.....................................................................................................................................................
The György Ferenczy Foundation continues the series of „Chopin + ……” International Piano Competitions for children to the ages of 15. Its special feature is that the competitors apart from Chopin’s works, have to perform works of composers according to their nationality and works from another composer – occasionally different – chosen by the Foundation. This time, with respect for the collective chain of events, apart from Chopin's works we require works from French and Hungarian composers.
Competitors are awaited from any countries, without any limitations in the types of schools and forms of education. The group of the participants which can represent the Hungarian primary music schools will be chosen in course of the IV. Hungarian National György Ferenczy Piano Competition (4-6 December 2009).
The competition consists of two rounds. The auditions are open for the public. The Jury is international.
AGE GROUPS: I. born in or after 1998 (to the ages of 12)
II. born between 1995 - 1997 (the ages of 13 - 15)
REQUIRED MATERIAL:
I. Round : work(s) by Chopin,
work(s) by optional French composer(s)
II. Round : work(s) by Chopin,
work(s) by optional Hungarian composer(s)
The repertoire listed on the program is definitive (cannot be changed).
The pieces are required to be played by heart, in optional order. The pieces by Chopin are played adjacently, without interrupting them by other composers' works.
PLAYTIME: I. age group – max. 10 minutes per round,
II. age group – max. 15 minutes per round.
It is not compulsory to use up the whole time. In case of exceeding the limit the Jury has the right to stop the performance and is allowed to subtract scores.
As it is stated in our rules, the same tipes of music pieces are required from all the age groups by choosing the difficulty according to the candidates' age, personality and skills.
Motto: „MANY CAN PLAY MUSIC WELL, A FEW PLAYS IT HEARTILY”. (György Ferenczy)
The order of the performances will be annunciated at the Opening Ceremony, after the starting letter has been drawn. The auditions of both age groups start from the same letter. For good cause – by the decission of the Jury – the order of auditions can be modified within the same day. In case of illness, according to the medical certification of the local doctor named in our brochure, the competitor can get the opportunity to delay the performance until the end of the round. The new playing order will be in operation until the end of the competition. The winners will play on a Gala Concert after the Award Ceremony. The program will be arranged by the Jury.
The scores and the decisions made by the Jury are secret and definitive. There is no opportunity to appeal them.
