The competition is announced for young pianists to the ages of 25 (born in or after 1985), without any limitations in the types of schools and forms of education. The competition is open for music school, training course, secondary, vocational school, conservatory or college students as well. Candidates are awaited from any countries. The competition consists of two rounds. The auditions are open for the public. The Jury is international.
REQUIRED MATERIAL:
I. Round:
a piece by optional French composer,
a piece by a Hungarian composer (e.g. Liszt, Weiner, Dohnányi, Bartók, Kodály etc.)
two Preludes by Chopin (adjacent numbers in the series, are required to be played successively in their original order.)
a Valse by Chopin,
a Nocturne by Chopin.
II. Round:
an Etude by Chopin
an Allegro Movement (the 1st part) of a Sonata by Chopin
two Mazurkas by Chopin (adjacent numbers in an opus performed successively in their original order)
a Polonaise by Chopin,
an optional piece by Chopin except the above listed categories, sonatas and concertos (e.g. Fantaisie, Impromptu, Ballade, Scherzo, Berceuse, Tarantella. Barcarole etc.)
As it is stated in our rules, the same types of music pieces are required from both age groups by choosing the difficulty according to the candidates’ age, personality and skills.

The repertoire listed in the program is definitive (cannot be changed).
The pieces are required to be played by heart, in optional order. All the pieces by Chopin are played adjacently, without interrupting them by other composers’ works.
PLAYTIME:
I. Round : 30 minutes,
II. Round : 40 minutes.
It is not compulsory to use up the whole playtime. In case of exceeding the limit the Jury has the right to stop the performance and is allowed to subtract scores.
The order of the performances will be annunciated at the Opening Ceremony, after the starting letter has been drawn. For good cause – by the decision of the Jury – the order of auditions can be modified within the same day. In case of illness, according to the medical certification of the local doctor named in our brochure, the competitor can get the opportunity to delay the performance until the end of the round. The new playing order will be in operation until the end of the Competition. The winners will play on a Gala Concert after the Award Ceremony. The program will be arranged by the Jury.
PRIZES:
1st prize: 500 000 Ft,
2nd prize: 400 000 Ft,
3rd prize: 300 000 Ft.
(The Jury has the right to change the amount of money awarded to the winners).
Invitations to concerts, special prizes.
The scores and the decisions made by the Jury are secret and definitive. There is no opportunity to appeal them.

THE FEES :
Entry fee: for competitors only:
full payment : 40 000 Ft,
Citizens of the „Visegrad Fours” (CZ, HU, PL, SK) can pay a subsidized amount:
33 000 Ft (for CZ, PL, SK citizens),
30 000 Ft (for HU citizens).
The Entry fee will not be paid back.
Participation fee: according to your needs we provide collegial-type accomodation and meals for competitors and attending persons in the same way.
In case of foreign transfers, the whole sums must be paid in HUF,
according to the actual changing rate, with paying for the extra bank charges,

TERMS OF APPLICATION:
The registration forms will be published on internet up to September 2009.
Send BY REGISTERED MAIL the completed Application Form enclosing the required papers:
- copy of identification card or passport (name, citizenship, date of birth),
- short professional biography (what national or international competition did he/she take part in, what placing did he/she get),
- copy of bank recipes about the transferred fees,
- two passport sized photos.

Confirmation of Application:
- by reply we confirm the registration,
- enclose an invoice made out to the indicated name and address,
- enclose a detailed brochure about the informations of general interest.
